I heard this term recently and it intrigued me. Fund a war. My imagination goes to a billionaire that gets mad at a country and hires a team of mercenaries to destroy it. The person who said it was talking about missions and the fight to get the Gospel out to all the nations.
My thoughts went to the battles that we each need to fight. You know what yours are. You may have made some known to others but some are hidden in your closet. Some are embarrassing and some are awful but they exist and they threaten you. Does your battle belong to the Lord or is it your own strife that stirs it up?
This word is to provoke prayer. Most of us know the scripture:
Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
But I also want to quote from Joshua 5:
13 Now when Joshua was nearJericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?”
14 “Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.”
Whatever you are fighting, give it to the Lord. It’s His battle not yours. Joshua knelt down and took off his shoes.
That is probably a good way for us to start . . .
