The amazing thing about scripture is that it is alive. We can read the same passage over and over again for years and then “boom” out of nowhere we see something for the first time. A friend of mine spoke on a passage this week and his point had never hit me before even though I was very familiar with it.
4 Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you’?”
2 Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” “A staff,” he replied.
We have all had times of despair, brokeness, and hopelessness. We don’t have money, we don’t have a job, we don’t have anyone to reach out to. Life appears to be more than bleak, it appears impossible.
God reaches down to us and says, “what is in your hand?” We all have something. We all hold something that God can use. It could be the boy with bread and fish standing next to Jesus. It could be Peter sitting in a fishing boat with an empty fishing net. It could be the poor widow with her last couple of pennies.
We all hold “something in our hand”. What are you holding? What is in your hand?
Throw it down and see what God will do with it.
